Review of the PEPR EBIOCARB launch day

IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) hosted the launch day of the Priority Research Programmes and Equipment (PEPR) “Hybrid sustainable fuels: e-biofuels” (EBIOCARB) at its Solaize site on 16 June 2026, attended by around ninety researchers, government representatives and industrial partners.

Funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) under the France 2030 programme and coordinated by the Programme Agency for Decarbonised Energie (APED), hosted within the CEA, the programme aims to remove the main scientific and technological barriers in order to establish, by 2050, a competitive French industry for the production of sustainable fuels destined for the aviation and maritime sectors.

The programme is organised around two complementary projects:

  • The first will develop decision-support tools to identify the most relevant pathways for the territorial deployment of future value chains, integrating environmental, economic and societal dimensions.
  • The second will seek to accelerate technology development through multi-scale modelling, experimental platforms and the validation of innovative processes capable of adapting to diverse feedstocks and to the intermittency of low‑carbon energy.
